Gilbert Arenas wants to set the record straight: John Wall is the best point guard in Washington Wizards franchise history.

Some believe Arenas holds that title, but the former All-Star NBA guard says Wall’s longevity outweighs his.

“Yes, I think so. His longevity because people try to say I am, but he has played in Washington longer than I did,” Arenas told Landon Buford. “My impact was probably greater because I came on like a rocket, but his longevity outweighs what I did.”

Gilbert Arenas played 357 games with the Wizards. He averaged 25.0 points with Washington and made the All-Star team three times. Arenas is second all-time in Wizards franchise history in career points per game.

John Wall is the all-time assists, steals and assists per game leader for the Wizards. The former No. 1 overall pick is third in scoring. Wall has scored 10,879 points with the Wizards.

Wall is widely expected to miss the entire 2019-20 season recovering from his Achilles tear. The five-time All-Star averaged 20.7 points and 8.7 assists in 32 games last season while shooting 44.4 percent from the field, 30.2 percent from beyond the arc and 69.7 percent from the free-throw line.

The supermax contract Wall signed in the summer of 2017 kicks in next season.
